Social Batteries and the Business of Being You

We talk a lot about introverts and extroverts, but that's only part of the story.
Sociability isn't about which side of that line you fall on; it’s about how connection fuels or drains your energy.
People with high sociability are external processors. They think out loud.
They need and want to share ideas, talk things through, and often gain clarity in the process. These are the people who thrive in group settings, naturally network, and can read a room with ease. Their energy builds through engagement.
Those with lower sociability process internally. They crave quiet reflection and find small talk depleting. They're not antisocial; they simply need solitude to recharge. Their best insights often surface in stillness, not in the noise.
One of my favorite people embodies this beautifully.
He's a dynamic public speaker, an incredible leader, and magnetic in front of a crowd, yet his sociability score is very low.
How does that work?
Because sociability isn’t about ability. It’s about energy management.
You can absolutely lead, speak, and inspire, no matter your social battery type, as long as you understand how to recharge, reset, and renew outside the spotlight.
The real key to success, both personally and professionally, isn't becoming someone else.
It’s understanding who you already are, and designing your life and leadership around that truth. Interested in learning more about how this impacts you personally, as a leader, or as a company? Book an appointment with me for a consultation.
